DescriptionWith a normal level of more than 52,000 acres of water and 1,225 miles of shoreline, Lake Cumberland is considered one of the finest fishing and boating areas in the Eastern United States. Even at its current reduced level, it remains the thrid largest lake in Kentucky. Perched high above this watery expanse, the park offers visitors a wide array of recreational opportunities, from tennis to trails. New for 2007 is the 18-hole disk golf course. Plenty to do at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park both on and off the lake.Geography:Lake Cumberland State Resort Park is located in Russell County KY, south of Jamestown, on the northwestern edge of Lake Cumberland. The 18-hole miniature golf course is perfect for family fun, April-November and the new disk golf course is available all year. A four-mile loop trail around the Lure Lodge area and a 1.5-mile one-way trail (3 miles total including return) let hikers enjoy the forest. Guided horseback trail rides depart every hour, and tennis and shuffleboard courts ensure that no visitor will ever get bored here.
